Yoshiyuki Tomino Model Wallet / Long Wallet

The "SIGNATURE COLLECTION" is born from the pursuit of individual usability.

"I want a higher-spec wallet!" was Mr. Tomino's request.

"Lightweight, with ample volume, thin yet resistant to deformation. Card insertion and removal should be stress-free, and visibility should be important so the wallet is easy to find in a bag."

This long wallet was developed with the goal of making full use of the materials.

For the main body, we used steer leather, the most representative type of cowhide. This leather comes from cows over two years old, and its soft texture, fine grain, and through-tanned chrome tanning give it an elegant character. To make this material even lighter, the leather was thinned to the absolute minimum thickness, adjusting it down to the millimeter, and the lining fabric was also extremely thin. To prevent deformation despite its thinness, we avoided using any thick interlining, instead relying on the stiffness of the vertically-positioned cards inside.

Furthermore, to eliminate stress when inserting and removing cards, we sewed a horizontally-oriented card slot with an innovative flap shape, a first in the industry. (This part has been further improved.) As a result, both vertical and horizontal card slots coexist, making classification extremely easy and resulting in a virtuous cycle of ease of use.

By using a leather cord for the zipper pull, we eliminated any foreign object feel and also considered ease of gripping. A spare leather cord has also been carefully included. This is the birth of a high-spec long wallet that is thin, easy to use, and has a large capacity that can hold 19 cards. (A hidden card case has been added inside the coin case.) As a further improvement, a hidden snap has been adopted for opening and closing the wallet, adding a sense of security that prevents it from opening unintentionally, without changing the appearance.

Yoshiyuki Tomino

Born in 1941. From Odawara City.
After graduating from the Department of Film at Nihon University College of Art, he joined Mushi Production, and after directing the TV anime "Astro Boy," he became a freelancer.
He has worked on storyboards and direction for various Japanese animation works, and his major directorial works include "Triton of the Sea," "Invincible Super Man Zambot 3," "Mobile Suit Gundam," "Space Runaway Ideon," and many others.
He also writes lyrics for songs in his own works and writes novels.
From 2019 to 2022, the exhibition "The World of Yoshiyuki Tomino" was held, showcasing his work from his childhood to the works he directed, and touring eight museum venues. In 2022, he completed his latest work, the theatrical film "Gundam Reconguista in G" (a five-part series).
In November 2021, he was selected as a Person of Cultural Merit.
